Congratulations to Our 2024 Honor Connor
Fund Scholarship Winners
Micah Zogaric
Michah spent his freshman year spreading the word about the dangers of distracted driving, not only to raise awareness, but to honor Connor's memory. A proud Eagle Scout, he also serves the CU community by working as a role model and mentor for other scouts in BSA Troop 343.
An Arts and Science Major, Michah is appreciative of the Honor Connor Scholarship and the assistance it provides him in being able to attend CU and achieve his long-term aspirations.
"The values I cherish the most are sincerity and kindness. I believe that the best way to live life to the fullest is to stay true to yourself and your beliefs, and similarly, the worst way to live life is from behind a mask trying to be someone that you’re not. I really believe that kindness goes a very long way in every life situation. These principles guide me through my social, academic, and fraternal life and directly tie in to my philanthropic efforts."
Owen Shaw
A Psychology Major, Owen strives to become a psychiatrist and dedicate his career to helping and working with others. As Phi Psi’s ‘Health and Wellness Coach’, Owen champions support for mental health issues and substance abuse education. He also works with CU’s End Overdose program, helping bring awareness to identifying those in crisis and treatment for reversing opioid overdoses.
"Helping others is the most important thing in the world to me, and from what I can tell, it was for Connor as well. I know that Connor demonstrated this passion through his philanthropic efforts. I plan on demonstrating it through my current positions and later occupations in life.”
Owen plans on specializing in child trauma psychiatry after graduation. His goal is to focus on giving kids (who may have had minimal control of their lives at one point) options for healing and living a healthier life. He also plans to continue raising awareness about drug safety to help reduce the number of victims who fall prey to it every year.
Parents' Week 2023
Parents’ Week 2023 at UC Boulder ended with the annual Phi Psi dinner and scholarship presentations. This year’s ‘Honor Connor’ winners received their signature shirts (Connor’s favored Tommy Bahamas brand) and plaques in front of proud parents and fellow brothers. Connor’s dad, David Thomson, was on hand to congratulate Charlie Longweuth and Francis Lynch. Both recipients exemplify the spirit of philanthropy and are active in ‘giving back’ to their communities.
